On Friday 19th August: David Ferrier from 'Treasuring our Trees’ joined us to tell us about their exciting new project.

On Friday 12th August, Dr Gregory Moore, from the University of Melbourne spoke about ‘Big Trees, Old Trees and Climate Change’  exploring what the future life span of these giant trees is, and the history of the woodland regrowth after the clearance in the early days of colonisation.

Dr Greg Moore’s  ’Tall Trees, Old Trees and Climate Change’ is now available to watch on: https://youtu.be/yOyrfXC-1Jw

Next plans ....

We will be welcoming colleagues from 'Habitat for Humanity’ in one of the future sessions.

I have linked with Dr Lisa Gibbs from University of Melbourne who really understands community challenges following disasters and I will post details of her webinar ‘Leading the Way - after the floods and building social connections’

The session on Friday 29th July was very useful, thanks to all who attended and moved forward the efforts to get a Hills Community Action Group up and running - we will focus on this again on Friday 19th August 2022.

On Friday 22nd July - we took time to get used to Zoom - introduce ourselves and had a look at some of the latest information that has come through from Yarra Ranges Council re funding possibilities and reports.

We discussed what it would be useful to do - then we will saw some of the great photos from the Hills Regrowth and Renewal Festival held on Sunday 17th July.

Use Contact us if you have any queries or ideas to share.

How it started: Community Focus / Storm Stories - Fridays 10.30 - 12.00

The Community Focus Friday sessions, started as 'Storm Stories' running at Olinda Community House, every Friday from 10.30am - 12.00 with hot drinks, cakes and time for a chat, and a chance to meet some of the people who have been helping us after the storm.  Since the sessions started after Easter 2022, we have welcome representatives from The Kalorama Collective, Rotary International, Olinda Community House, Anglicare and YR Emergency Planning, as well as Olinda CFA and local people who have been affected by the storm last June.

Here is one of the posters used to promote the sessions:
